Beyond perfect! One of my best Amazon purchases EVER!
So nice I bought it twice! This is a perfectly designed set, and even if you break it up would be wonderful gifts. I use the tiny one for grinding single servings of celery seed in tomato juice, the medium one for grinding dill seed for potato salad, and the larger one for bulkier herbs and seeds for a pesto or salad dressing mix, just to mention three of the dozens of uses these tools come into play. I'm so happy with these beautiful mortars and pestles, and probably will buy another set just to place out as aromatherapy "gadgets". The smallest would make a perfect gift for a youngster learning how to use herbs to season teas or just to learn how seeds and flowers smell when crushed.

The pestle is long enough for a comfortable grip. I use this mortar and pestle to ...
I did a lot of looking before choosing a mortar and pestle and finally ended up going with this one. The inside of the mortar is rough. The pestle is long enough for a comfortable grip. I use this mortar and pestle to crush herbs and spices for chai. It takes a little getting used to, but don't go by the size for how much it holds. If you put more than a tablespoon of anything in there it will spill out as you're crushing it.

Great product, but it was no match for my dog.
I intended to use this to grind up my dog's medicine to try and fool her into taking it. While it only worked the first few times on the dog, I blame this on her advanced ability to detect medicine meant to improve her quality of life, as it isn't a flaw with the product. Make sure you pay attention to how small this is. I was thinking it was bigger, but that's what I get for being in a rush. Plenty big for my uses. The end of the stick portion (Pestle?) is unglazed or has been sanded to give it some texture, which really helps with allowing you to grind things instead of just sending them flying across the room.

Exactly what flax seeds and chia seeds require.
I very much enjoy using this simple aid to recipe preparation. Mostly, I use it for making my morning breakfast - whole wheat pancakes with crushed flax seeds and chia seeds, almond milk, very light olive oil, egg beaters. The seeds are best consumed in their crushed form in order to facilitate optimum nutrient intake during digestion. I top the pancakes with a very light coating of Smart Balance Light Buttery Spread with Flax Seed Oil, Sugar-Free Maple Syrup (Splenda sweetened), and a Blueberry compote made from frozen Blueberries and one pack of Stevia In The Raw. The compote is evenly poured, distributed, on top of the stair-step arrangement of pancakes as a top coating. Perhaps too much information; but, now you have my perspective on how this mortar and pestle contribute to my much loved breakfast.

Functional, and apparently a show stopper.
I've been wanting a mortar and pestle for awhile now, as I wanted one to grind up spices. Some of my friends suggested getting an electric one, but there's something quite satisfying about doing it by hand. I'm really happy I picked this one, and I was astonished how many family members were talking about it as if it were the show stopper of our Thanksgiving dinner--not even kidding! Easy to clean, easy to use, and for some reason it's a show stopper. ;)

Can mix and match
The sizes of these three mortars are perfect. The large can handle bread, crackers, biscuits, etc. for creating crumbs. The middle size is a perfect size for crushing fresh dried herbs and flowers. The small is excellent for blending small amounts of several seasonings and herbs. And, depending on the job, I use the different size pestles in any of the mortals depending on what I'm creating. I'm very happy with this purchase, use them often and recommend this set to everyone whether you enjoy creating a variety of foods or like to keep things simple.

Use it every day.
I bought this for my vitamins. I crush the pills and mix them into my morning smoothie. No more gagging, no more feeling sick. I feel like it's easier for my body to digest too. Love this little guy.

Grind and Mash in a Dash!
This is such a beautiful high quality mortar and pestle set for the price! I honestly don't know what I was expecting when I ordered these but I do know those expectations were met and exceeded. This set grinds and mashes like nobody's business. They clean up very easily too. They are of such high quality I have no doubt they will last me many years to come. If you are on the fence about this purchase hop off that fence now. This set will not disappoint!

Chalky Medicine Can Be Finely Ground
This method makes it possible to finely crush chalky medicine tablets or capsules as opposed to twisting a pill crusher. I also barely warm 1/4 cup water separately in a mug about 10 seconds in the microwave. Then pour the crushed medicine in to the mug of warm water & stir about a minute. Let it melt, COOL completely & stir briefly before using syringe to put mixuture in the feeding tube. Always remember to flush the feeding tube with plain water afterwards. So far no clogging of the feeding tube.

Simple and efficient
This is exactly what I needed to crush up my dog's meds. She has a way of eating around them and refuses to take them orally. So, I crush them up and sprinkle them on her food. Good deal.Harold Import Company Mortar & Pestle Spice Herb Grinder Pill Crusher, 3.5 by 1.75", White
